I have about 15 door knobs in my house that I want to paint to look like brushed nickel.?

Author: I have looked at several different spray paints but they will make the door knobs look shinny. Is there a way that I can paint them and have them look like a brushed nickel? I really want them to match all of our other fixtures but I don’t want to have to buy new ones. All of the knobs are brass right now.
If you use a matte or semi-gloss poly (probably three coats since door knobs take a lot of abuse) on top of whatever paint treatment you use to get the color right, the shine won’t be a problem.
You might want to price out new ones too though – door knobs get a lot of use, and painting them can be as expensive or more so than buying new ones, especially when you include the cost of your time to do it right.

You really should replace them to get the brushed nickel finish, the heavy use that doorknobs get will just wear off any paint you put on. The brushed look can’t be done will paint very well anyway, especially on something as oddly shaped as a doorknob. I’ve been slowly replacing my brass doorknobs with nickel ones a few at a time since the cost of replacing them all really adds up.
